PANEL WIRE CABLES FAQs

In the international market, panel wires are categorized by harmonized standards (like the European <HAR> system) or North American UL/CSA styles. The Chinese system uses the GB (Guobiao) standard, which identifies wires based on application and insulation type using Pinyin initials.
-
Chinese System (GB/T): The most common models are BVR (Flexible flame-retardant wire), BV (Single-core rigid wire), and RV (Flexible multi-strand copper wire).
-
International System: Common designations include H05V-K / H07V-K (Harmonized flexible PVC wire), H07V-R (Stranded rigid wire), and Tri-Rated Wire (Meeting UL, CSA, and BS standards simultaneously).
-
North American System: Focuses on UL Styles such as AWM 1015, AWM 1007, or MTW (Machine Tool Wire).
Compatibility is fundamentally driven by technical performance equivalence. While a wire might be labeled BVR in China and H07V-K in Europe, both are manufactured to comply with IEC 60228 (Conductor resistance) and IEC 60332-1-2 (Flame retardancy). As long as the voltage rating (e.g., 450/750V), temperature range (e.g., 70°C, 90°C, or 105°C), and conductor flexibility (Class 5) align with the target country’s electrical codes, the wire is functionally interchangeable and safe for global panel building.
Tri-Rated Wire is a high-specification flame-retardant panel wire that meets the requirements of three different standards: BS 6231 (UK), UL 758 (USA), and CSA C22.2 (Canada).
-
Benefit: Using Tri-Rated wire allows panel builders to manufacture a single control cabinet that can be exported to almost any region in the international market without the need for rewiring to meet local certification.
-
Flexibility: H07V-K uses Class 5 fine copper stranding, making it significantly easier to route through tight corners in control panels compared to the rigid Class 1 or 2 conductors found in BV wires.
-
Vibration Resistance: Flexible strands are less prone to work-hardening and fatigue, which is critical for panels installed near industrial machinery or in transit-related environments.
In high-occupancy buildings, data centers, and public infrastructure (subways/airports), LSZH panel wire (e.g., H07Z-K) is mandatory. Unlike standard PVC, LSZH does not release toxic acid gases or thick black smoke during a fire, ensuring visibility and protecting sensitive electronic components from corrosive damage.
The primary difference is the Voltage Rating:
-
H05V-K: Rated for 300/500V, typically used for internal signaling and control circuits.
-
H07V-K: Rated for 450/750V, used for power distribution and higher voltage control tasks within the panel.
While bare copper is standard, Tinned Copper is specified for harsh environments. The tin coating protects the copper from oxidation and corrosion, especially in coastal regions or high-humidity industrial plants. It also significantly improves the ease of soldering and long-term terminal contact reliability.
Exceeding the minimum bending radius (typically 4x to 6x the Outer Diameter) can stress the insulation and increase electrical resistance at the bend. For organized and safe routing, engineers utilize Slotted Cable Trunking (Wiring Duct) to manage these bends efficiently while maintaining the necessary radius.
Slotted Cable Trunking is the standard support system for panel wiring. It allows wires to be diverted through "fingers" or slots to their respective terminals while keeping the cabinet interior organized. This facilitates air circulation for heat dissipation and makes future maintenance or troubleshooting significantly easier.
Yes. When control wires exit the panel to connect to field sensors or motors, Wire Mesh Cable Trays are an excellent choice. They offer high flexibility for complex routing and allow for easy exit/entry of small-diameter wires without the need for complex conduit fittings.
Most international standards (like IEC 60204-1) require consistent color-coding:
-
Black: Power circuits (AC and DC).
-
Red: AC control circuits.
-
Blue: DC control circuits.
-
Green/Yellow: Protective Earth (PE).
-
Orange: Interlock circuits supplied from an external power source.
